Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea Resort and Hapuna Estates on the Big Island of Hawaii provide a haven where luxury and natural beauty coalesce splendidly. A result of Laurance S. Rockefeller’s vision in the 1960s, the resort has become a premier destination, combining the stunning Kauna’oa Bay with top-notch amenities. Notably, the resort treats its visitors to the celebrated Mauna Kea Golf Course, a number of wonderful restaurants, a  spa, and access to a beach that is considered to be one of the world’s best, offering both tranquility and a variety of fun activities.

During the initial development of the resort, several ancient Hawaiian archaeological sites were discovered, including ancient temples (heiaus) and residential complexes. Rockefeller, respecting the cultural importance of these sites, ensured they were preserved and incorporated into the resort’s landscape, providing guests with a tangible link to Hawaii’s rich past.
