Kailua Kona & Keauhou

Kailua-Kona and Keauhou, situated on the western coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, are renowned tourist destinations boasting a charming blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and an array of diverse activities. Kailua-Kona is an ancient Polynesian Settlement – once a small fishing village, it was home to ancient Polynesians long before Western contact. The region was rich in resources and supported robust communities. King Kamehameha the Great established his seat of government here in the early 19th century after he united the Hawaiian Islands. His residence and associated structures still stand today as a historic site.
