Island Breeze ~ King Kamehameha Luau Many consider this luau a "Royal Hawaiian Experience". This traditional luau is held in the historic and picturesque Kamakahonu Bay and the grounds of Ahu Ena (Kamehameha-the-Great's former estate at Kailua Kona) in the garden area of the hotel. The evening begins with a shell lei greeting, picture taking and a display of Polynesian crafts and demonstrations to learn about island traditions. Torches are lit and the conch shell is blown announcing the arrival of the Hawaiian Royal Court. The Polynesian show will start soon after; a favorite dance of everyone is the dangerous and daring Fire Knife Dance.

The story of Haleo - the Voice of Life, celebrates the history of the ahupua'a called Keauhou and the heart of those who came from this land area. From the birth of Kamehameha III to the surfing stories of He'eia Bay, the dancers and musician of Island Breeze take you on an entertaining journey through a very special time in Hawaii's history. - Enjoy live dinner music, luau dinner buffet, a full service Open Bar available until 8:00pm. And, just as the sun is setting over Keauhou Bay - Haleo begins.


The Royal Kona Resort Luau has been a mainstay on the Big Island of Hawaii for many years. It is of course located at the Royal Kona Resort Luau grounds in Kailua-Kona. This three-hour luau includes a large buffet dinner and show which is called "Lava - Legends and Legacies" and is operated by Tihati Productions which also offers a variety of luaus on the other Hawaiian Islands. The capacity of the Royal Kona Resort Luau is about four-hundred people.
